Family Standard

This year, our Stake is challenging everyone to improve our private religious practice. From there, our ward has set up a series of goals for us to work on every month. Some of these goals are focus on meaningful prayer, working on family history, and holding family home evening. In January, we were given the challenge to make a family standard, something that our family represents, what it means to be a Hinsdale. So we took that challenge and Will and I really enjoyed doing it. We now have it printed up and on our fridge so we can look at it everyday. I think everyone needs to do this, what does it mean to be in your family? What do you represent or want your family to stand for? Take the time with your family to make your own, you won't regret it!

So here's ours:

For us in his house, we will serve the Lord.
For we believe we have been called to serve others and be a
positive and good example in living the gospel.
We define ourselves by our integrity,
hard-work, and laughter in all things.
The process that we went through to make this was pretty simple. We picked out the qualities that we thought was important for our family. After thinking for a couple of days, we got back together and were able to put it together. Yours doesn't have to be like this. Some families, did one sentence or phrase, or others did a paragraph. But it's made a huge difference in our house, and can't wait until we can teach our kids what it means to be a Hinsdale.
